Team-Based Care

Team-Based Care
At Idaho Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center, we believe the strongest care comes from a coordinated, team-based approach. Rheumatologic conditions can be complex, and having multiple professionals working together ensures you receive thorough, timely, and well-supported treatment at every step.
Our patients are cared for by a collaborative team that includes physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), nurses, infusion specialists, medical assistants, and administrative staff. Each member of the team plays a unique r
Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions often require ongoing monitoring, medication adjustments, diagnostic testing, and long-term management. A single provider cannot efficiently meet all these needs—nor should they.
Our team-based structure helps us:
• Reduce appointment wait times
• Offer more frequent touchpoints for patients with active disease
• Ensure more consistent follow-up and medication monitoring
• Improve communication among everyone involved in your care
• Provide faster response times for questions, flares, and lab or imaging results
This approach gives patients the benefit of multiple experts while maintaining one cohesive plan overseen by your rheumatologist.g.
Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) — which include Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) — are integral members of our rheumatology team. They undergo specialized training in evaluating autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions, interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing long-term treatment plans.
APPs help support our patients through:
• Comprehensive follow-up visits
• Medication monitoring for DMARDs, biologics, and advanced therapies
• Evaluation of flares or new symptoms
• Ordering and interpreting labs and imaging
• Coordinating care with your rheumatologist
• Providing patient education and ongoing support
APPs work closely with our physicians every day, reviewing cases and ensuring treatment plans are aligned with the most current recommendations.
Increased Access
By expanding the clinical team, we can offer appointments sooner, especially for urgent concerns or medication-related issues. This reduces delays and ensures you receive timely care.
Better Continuity
APPs often follow patients between physician visits, allowing for consistent monitoring and proactive adjustments in therapy. This continuity supports stable long-term disease management.
Enhanced Patient Support
APPs spend dedicated time reviewing medications, answering questions, and helping patients understand their conditions and treatment plans. This added layer of communication helps patients feel more confident and empowered.
True Collaboration
Our physicians and APPs work side-by-side. Treatment decisions are shared and reviewed, combining the expertise of both disciplines to provide safe, effective, and personalized care.
No matter which provider you see, your rheumatologist remains directly involved in your overall plan and is continually updated on your progress.
A Team Committed to You
Every member of our care team—from front desk staff and medical assistants to infusion nurses and providers—plays a meaningful role in your experience. We prioritize communication, compassion, and coordination so your care feels connected and consistent.
Our goal is simple: to help you live better with arthritis and autoimmune conditions by surrounding you with the right team, the right support, and the right expertise at the right time.
